Best available technology

The installation in Indjija is equipped with the best available technology (BAT technology) and Energo-Zelena’s facility is a state of the art zero waste plant: steam is reused in the rendering process as energy by being burnt;   the best technology for odor treatment has been installed and the plant has its own waste water treatment facility which purifies the water to the river quality water.

The facility is designed to process hazardous animal by-products (ABP) that are no longer allowed to be consumed either by humans or by animals. Those products are therefore destroyed for health and environmental reasons (BSE, dioxins etc.).

The final products, that are obtained after ABPs are being treated, are meat and bone meal (MBM) and fats. The former is used in cement plants or some other industrial plants for energy production (MBM has a calorific value of brown coal), and the latter is used for biodiesel production.

In rendering plant of Energo-Zelena, by-products of animal origin are treated at high temperatures up to 900 °C in order to destroy all bacteria and harmful microorganisms.

The installation meets the strictest European and Serbian environmental and safety standards.
